The Domaine du Pin de la Lègue is committed to biodiversity and environmental education
The founders of the Pin de la Lègue were concerned from the outset of the creation of the Estate to develop and enhance the ecological heritage. What was once arid land has transformed over the years into the magnificent forest we know today. They also created an educational arboretum that invites visitors to discover the richness of the local flora. For a few days now, each tree species present in the arboretum is identified by plaques that provide its Latin and French names, and a discovery trail project is in the process of being developed. These plaques, designed with sustainable materials, highlight species that are indigenous or exotic, adapted to the Mediterranean climate. This operation is part of the ecological conversion plan of the Estate, an approach aimed at raising public awareness of the importance of biodiversity and the preservation of nature. Awareness-raising activities on ecological issues are organised throughout the season (see the programme of activities for the months of July and August). The creation of mini greenhouses allowing for a reasoned reforestation following the PPRIF is under consideration, as well as the installation of hundreds of bird and bat boxes in the common areas and on the plots of associates who express the wish. Ultimately, the ambition is to achieve a high environmental value label that will contribute to the quality of life within the Estate and to the protection of our facilities for the decades to come.
